Women's Moonstar / Shoes Like Pottery / 810s
Moonstar is a company that has been producing shoes in Kurume, Kyusyu, Japan since 1873. The brand first began as a husband and wife duo creating tabi socks. Kurume first prospered in the rubber industry manufacturing Jika-Tabi shoes (a rubber-soled boot with a unique split toe).
Shoes Like Pottery is a brand under the umbrella company of Moonstar.
The hallmark of Shoes Like Pottery is the vulcanizing, or ka-ryu, process in Japanese, performed by only a select handful of shoe manufacturers around the world. In the ka-ryu process, each shoe is fired in a kiln which causes the sulfur mixed inside the raw rubber to chemically react, returning the rubber to its natural elasticity and creating a soft, flexible, and durable sole. Above all, Shoes Like Pottery features high-quality, beautifully textured fabric, hand-sewn by the skilled craftsmen of Kurume.
810s is another line under the Moonstar umbrella. They are based off of industry work shoes for factory workers, medical personal, students and kitchen staff. They are meant to be "just-right daily-tool" as the wearer sees fit.
